The Nook
Situated within the school grounds, The Nook provides high-quality breakfast and after-school care for children attending Totley Primary School, as well as children of Mercia Learning Trust employees. The provision offers a safe, welcoming and homely environment where children can relax, play and continue learning beyond the school day.
The Nook is open during term time and caters for children aged 4 to 11.

Breakfast Club
Monday to Friday, 7.15am to 8.45am
After-School Club
Monday to Friday, 3.15pm to 6.00pm
What is provided
Breakfast club
Children arriving between 7.15am and 8.15am are offered a healthy, balanced breakfast, including a choice of cereals, bagels, tea cakes, crumpets and fruit. Children arriving after 8.15am attend a reduced-rate session and breakfast is not served.
Children are escorted safely to their classrooms by The Nook staff ahead of the school day.
After-school club
At the end of the school day, children are collected by The Nook staff and signed in. A healthy snack and drink are offered shortly after arrival, with water available throughout the session. Children attending the late session are provided with a light, nutritious tea at 5.00pm.
The provision offers a wide range of stimulating activities, including creative play, outdoor learning and curriculum-linked experiences. There is also space for children to relax after a busy school day in a calm, home-from-home environment.
Children have access to a secure outdoor area with different learning zones and may also use the school field when accompanied by staff.
Staffing and care
The Nook is run by experienced leaders and overseen by the headteacher. All staff are fully trained in safeguarding and first aid, hold current DBS checks and are recorded on the school’s single central record.
Staff-to-child ratios are 1:10, and children are supervised at all times. The Nook follows the school’s behaviour policy, with clear expectations and consistent routines.

All sessions must be paid for in advance.

7.15am to 8.45am (includes breakfast): £6.50
8.15am to 8.45am: £4.00
After-School club
3.10pm to 4.15pm: £5.00
3.10pm to 5.00pm: £10.00
3.10pm to 6.00pm (includes light tea): £13.50
Sibling discounts and Mercia Learning Trust staff discounts may apply.
Booking
Bookings can be made on a regular or ad hoc basis and must be confirmed in advance.
Regular bookings require completion of a booking form and become contracted weekly sessions once confirmed. A month’s notice is required for cancellations or ongoing changes.
Ad hoc bookings are accommodated where possible and must also be booked in advance. Refunds are only available in exceptional circumstances, as staffing and food provision are planned ahead.
